Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association Welfare Committee, Yakubu C. Maikyau, SAN, has commiserated with the family and members of the NBA Abuja Branch on the demise of Dr. Hauwa Evelyn Shekarau, Esq. Chairlady, Unity Branch.

The Chevening alumnus died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

Maikyau, SAN, in his message on Tuesday, “It was and it remains profound grief to have woken up to the news of the untimely demise of Dr. H. E. Shekarau.

“I had the honour of personal acquaintance of Dr. Shekarau and the word that keeps crossing my mind about her is ‘Grace’.

“From her beautiful looks, to her soft-spoken words, her elegant sense of dressing, her gentle nature, as well as her evident stoic disposition, and most importantly, her unflinching faith in Christ; Dr. Shekarau was simply gracious.
“She wore ‘grace’ to the very end, even as she battled for her life through ill-health, she continued to demonstrate uncommon strength and courage to carry on her duties as Chairlady, Bar leader, and mother.

“It is my hope that her family and friends as well as the Abuja Bar will find solace in the gracious life she lived. Dr. Shekarau truly lived; lived it all and continues to live in the lives of many she impacted.

“I’m confident in the Truth of God’s Word that, her gentle soul rests in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ, where she truly belongs. And May the Lord grant her family, friends and the Unity Bar the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“Good Night Chair Lady- until we meet again.”
