Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Maiduguri Alumni Association and Sardauna of Uba, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, OFR, MFR, SAN felicitates with the University of Maiduguri on the occasion of her 78th Inaugural Lecture themed “Legal Perspective of Human Rights Journey in Nigeria: Myth and Reality”.

The Learned Silk, a graduate of the faculty of Law at the prestigious University of Maiduguri, who has proven to be a worthy ambassador of the institution stated in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, Ph.D, MIPAN, FCSN, FICCON, FIPESA, SFIPMA that he considers the theme “ a topical issue and one which touches us all, as Lawyers, Academicians and members of the society ” and that he earnestly anticipates an enlightening discourse during the programme. He expressed his hope that the knowledge and resolutions acquired and adopted would place Borno State and Nigeria in a more vantage position socially, economically, legally, politically and otherwise.

According to him, the institution has always been dedicated to scholarship and learning in the Arts, Sciences, Humanities and Technology, and the development of moral and civic character of all persons who pass through her portals and has undoubtedly contributed immensely to the development of Borno State and Nigeria.

The guest speaker for the occasion is the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Prof. Isah Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, FCIArb, FICMC, FIMC, whom the Learned Silk has described as an embodiment of infallible intellect and character harnessed through years of experience as a lawyer and an academician.

Chief Gadzama, SAN has also expressed his belief that the occasion will elicit aspirations towards making laudable landmarks in the legal profession, Borno State and Nigeria at large.
