The National Industrial Court, Lagos, today struck out the two cases filed in court in respect of the crisis rocking the University of Lagos.

In the first case filed by Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, his lead counsel, Tayo Oyetibo, SAN, with Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, informed the court that the claimant has filed a notice of discontinuance.

He however drew the attention of the court to certain news reports in the media which falsely indicated that the court sat on Friday, August 21, 2020 and refused the ex-parte application of the claimant. He said the court never sat on the case to his knowledge.

The judge remarked that he did not sit on the case formally and such news item must be part of the fake news menace that is currently plaguing the nation.

Mr Oyetibo, SAN informed the Court that the Claimant withdrew the case in deference to the authority of the President who is the Visitor to the University.

Prof Taiwo Osipitan, SAN, told the court that the issues are being resolved, as the President who is the Visitor to the University has waded in and everybody is working for a peaceful resolution of all issues.

Mr. O. Oshobi, SAN, appearing for Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN, informed the court that he has no objection to the withdrawal of the suits since it is the claimant’s case, he has the right to discontinue it.
The court consequently struck out the cases.
