“CAN ANY STATE IN NIGERIA OWN A FLAG AND FLY IT INSTEAD OF THE NATIONAL FLAG ?” Any of the 36 states in Nigeria can design, own and fly its own state flag anytime and in anywhere apart from in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A state can fly its flag instead of flying the National flag of Nigeria. Note that where a state flag and the National flag are to be flown at the same time in a public place, then only the National flag of at least the same size as the state flag will be used and the National flag must fly high and above such state flag. Failure to do so a criminal offence punishable with fine of N100.00 and where such offence continues, a fine of N10.00 for each day. My authority are sections 4 and 10 of the Flag and Coats of Arms Act, 1960. #DailyLawTips #SabiLaw #LearnNigerianLaws NOTE: Sharing or modifying or publishing this publication without giving credit to Onyekachi Umah, Esq. and “LearnNigerianLaws.com” is a criminal breach of copyright and will be prosecuted.
