The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has come under criticism over the alleged delay in service delivery.

It started when a Lawyer, Hyginus Ibega, posted on “Lawyers in Nigeria” Facebook Group that “Manual Search CAC has deteriorated and this makes me look incompetent to my clients. Who can help me? takes a day @[sicCAC is now 2 months if you are lucky. This is the ease of doing business.” sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL)

Many lawyers seized the opportunity to bare there minds on the CAC issue.

One of the Lawyers, Barr Chuks Ebubealor, commented that an application he made since 2nd of July has not come out till now.

Another lawyer, Ihechy Obilor, said consent for Incorporation of Trustees has become very frustrating as her request for consent she submitted to the RG on 18 August is yet to get a response.”

Sira Badey said the process is” very annoying….. CAC use to be atleast 80% cool but now it’s frustrating…..not to mention the Consent for IT…….u pay 5k for no reason at all…..all in the name of Consent……is it that the commission do not want anybody to do business again.”

For Nsirim Emmanuel and David Popoola, The new Registrar General of CAC, RG Abubakar is “Incompetent and lacks the capacity to lead the commission”.

Mr Popoola wrote,..“it’s so unfortunate. I filed for business name registration and d it has been registered since July and up to now, I’m yet to get d certificate. I have gone through all d Currier companies and d certificate is no where to be found. I went ahead to write to d Commission and I’m yet to be contacted. This new RG thinks he knows more than everyone and ironically he knows nothing.”

Chukwuma Nwosu complained that It is almost one month that he has been trying to upload documents but to no avail. He concluded that presently, CAC is a shadow of what it used to be.

Kingsley Ediala wrote… “The problem is clients don’t know all these you are saying and do not even believe you, so we continue to bear the brunt in silence! One even told me I was lying, that everything was back to normal at CAC, that they work full steam and allow free access to their offices. Bros, na so I open mouth dey look”

For Abdulshakur Isah, …”It’s unfortunate honestly, CAC has rather complicated filing processes for lawyers most especially!”

Omosuzi Violet beckoned on God for help and wrote….. “Infact the issues of CAC, it is only God that will intervene. The current Register General has succeeded in frustrating everybody. And he using us to enrich himself through delivery of certificates, God will judge him and his generation in due time.”

For Apase Falaye, Clients now see lawyers as lazy and fraudulent when lawyers continue giving bogus dates to deliver their documents.

Joe Maduka cried to NBA for help and wrote………“NBA… please come to the rescue… This CAC issues is not funny anymore.”

Oyeghe Soprebo wrote ……”It’s really worrisome. It takes more than 2 months sometimes for common search”.

Udo-Ekong Umo-Udofia exclaimed …“Chai CAC what have done..”

Emma Ukera described the situation as one ..“from ease of doing business to tears of doing business in Nigeria”

Sony Fabs-Nwankwo blamed nepotism and wrote…..”What do you expect , when you thrust positions of authority to someone incompetent because of ethnic and religious affiliation.”

Doyin Adekanmi is seeking for help as the delays is affecting the way his clients see him. He wrote ….”CAC has deteriorated and this makes me look incompetent to my clients. Who can help me?”

On his part,
Ezeoke Evarist Chinedu said, “It is terrible what one goes through in CAC now. Is that the ease of doing business or inefficiency?”

Okenwa Amara said the issue is as a result of the covid pandemic adding that “The country doesn’t have efficient automated processes, more work has to be done because more than ever we need business to work to re-jig the economy.”

Nsirim Emmanuel Segun
too said, “We can petition for him to be changed, let’s start that the business of governance is not for the incompetent people.”

Lending his voice, Chinyere Ojukwu described the situation as “next level”
