The Corporate Affairs Commission [CAC], has hinted that it may be forced to destroy all unclaimed pre-incorporation certificates, sent by the commission via various courier services to their owners.
The Commission noted that if such documents are not claimed after the 30th day of April 2021, it may have no other option than to destroy the said certificates.
The CAC made its position known via a public notice issued by the commission and dated the 17th day of April, 2021.
The said notice which was obtained by TheNigeriaLawyer is titled, ‘UNCLAIMED CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS’, noted that the policy of the commission transmitting Pre-incorporation Certificate to customers was in line with the federal government’s regulations on the Covid-19.
The commission further noted that, despite repeated calls made by the commission to the customer since the start of this policy on Friday the 24th of July, 2020, some customers were yet to claim their documents/certificates with the relevant courier companies.
It’s on this note that the Commission has urged the owners of such certificates/documents to visit their courier companies for immediate pickup on or before the end of April 2021 as failure to claim these certificates/documents after the deadline will lead to the destruction of the unclaimed documents
