*Insists On Adhering To Rules In Staff Promotions, Hirings

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has strongly denied recent social media allegations that it has been recruiting staff against the Federal Character Principle.

In a public notice released today, 20/04/2024 the Commission clarified that it strictly adheres to the laws and regulations governing its operations.

Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, the Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, assumed office on October 16, 2023, and was immediately confronted with various challenges, including a backlog of promotions and staff welfare issues. In an effort to improve the well-being of the CAC workforce, Magaji swiftly resolved and concluded the 2022 promotion examination upon receiving approval from the supervisory authority, as mandated by law.

According to the public notice, numerous qualified candidates were elevated to executive and non-executive positions during the promotion exercise, in compliance with legal provisions. The Commission also followed due process in regularizing the status of inherited contract staff and recruited new employees to meet the current administration’s target deliverables and ensure prompt responses to customer inquiries and complaints.

The CAC emphasized that, as a law-abiding government agency led by a senior member of the bar, it would never undertake these groundbreaking processes without obtaining necessary approvals and certifications from relevant compliance enforcement agencies.

The notice further stated that since assuming office, the current CAC leadership has prioritized staff welfare in line with its four-point agenda. Management has ensured the uninterrupted payment of staff salaries, allowances, loans, and medical assistance to deserving employees, following prescribed rules and procedures.

The Hussaini Magaji-led CAC remains committed to the progress and development of the Commission, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The CAC continues to focus on providing prompt and efficient service delivery, despite attempts to distract its progress through malicious allegations.
