Daniel Bwala, an aide to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, expressed his concerns about some of the ministerial assignments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu recently assigned 45 portfolios to ministers-designate who are set to be sworn in on Monday.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Bwala highlighted that he found some of the appointments to be ill-suited. He referred to them as “square pegs in round holes” and raised the issue of mismatched portfolios.

Bwala mentioned specific examples, such as the appointment of Hannatu as the Minister of Culture, while Betta Edu was made the Minister of Humanitarian. According to Bwala, Hannatu, who is familiar with humanitarian issues, could have been better suited for the role of Minister of Humanitarian due to potential crises along the country’s borders.

Bwala also questioned the appointment of a former governor with a low rating in fighting insecurity as the Minister of State for Defense. He expressed uncertainty about what this minister would be tasked with given his previous performance.

Overall, Bwala voiced his reservations about the competence and appropriateness of some of the ministers appointed by Tinubu, citing concerns about mismatched portfolios and the ability to effectively handle their assigned roles.
