The Burial of Late emeritus Justice Sylvester Ngwuta has been postponed Sine die
This is contained in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer signed by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN who happens to be the Chairman of the burial committee.
The learned silk said the decision to put the burial on hold was taken by Governor of Ebonyi State, Eng. David Nweze Umahi, due to security situation of South East.
“His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE Chairman, Southeast Governors’ Forum, and Governor of Ebonyi State has deferred the burial of the Hon. Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta to a date to be communicated to us all due to the security situation in the South East at this time.” he said
Agabi, therefore, explained that all arrangements in respect of the burial have been put on hold.
He regrets the inconvenience that the postponement will cause
He said, “Take Notice therefore that all arrangements in connection with the funeral have been put on hold.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause. This is a necessary precaution and we are grateful to his Excellency the Governor for taking it”
Recall that the family of late Justice Sylvester Ngwuta had consented to the date set for the burial of the deceased jurist after protracted controversies surrounding the burial
The family said the consent to the date was as a result of the outcome of the meeting convened by Chief Kanu Agabi burial planning committee.
