Bulus Yohanna Atsen, fsi, elected NBA Representative on the General Council of the Bar, has expressed gratitude to members of the Nigerian Bar Association for supporting and voting for him in the just-concluded 2026 NBA National Elections.

In a statement of appreciation dated July 19, 2026, Atsen said he was deeply humbled by the support he received from Senior Advocates of Nigeria, colleagues across the country and lawyers in the diaspora.

According to him, the votes cast in his favour culminated in his election to the General Council of the Bar, a mandate he said he received with immense gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility.

“I receive this mandate with immense gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility,” he said.

Atsen thanked colleagues who advised, prayed, campaigned, supported and voted for him, saying the victory belonged to all those who believed in his candidacy.

“This victory belongs to all of us. Your trust will not be taken for granted,” he stated.

He recalled that his campaign was anchored on what he described as Strategic Representation, built on three pillars: strengthening governance of legal practice, promoting strategic influence for the Bar, and instituting a transparent feedback mechanism.

Atsen promised to remain committed to serving members diligently and in compliance with the Legal Practitioners Act, the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the best interests of NBA members.

He also congratulated other elected General Council of the Bar representatives and members of the National Executive Committee.

While acknowledging that the electoral process was characterised by numerous challenges, Atsen said service to the Bar required deliberate efforts to improve the system and advance the legal profession in Nigeria.

He again thanked members for the opportunity to serve, pledging to uphold the mandate given to him.
