An Upper Shari’a Court sitting in Kano, on Thursday, fixed March 3, for a cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, to open his defence in the ongoing trial for alleged blasphemy.
The trial judge, Malam Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, fixed the date following the submission by the defence counsel, Ambali Obomeileh-Muhammad, SAN, who prayed for an adjournment for his client to open his defence.
Sarki-Yola adjourned the matter until March 3 for continuation of hearing.
NAN reports that Nasiru-Kabara, who allegedly committed the offence on Aug.10, Oct.25 and Dec.20, 2019, is charged with four counts bordering on blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad.
