United Nigeria Airlines has warned of delays across its network after a bird strike affected one of its Airbus A320 aircraft on Sunday.

The incident involved Flight UN0509, scheduled to depart from Asaba to Lagos at 12:00. In a statement, the airline said the strike impacted an engine mid-operation, forcing operational adjustments.

“Due to a bird strike on one of the engines of its operating Airbus A320 aircraft during Flight UN0509, some flights across our network will not operate as scheduled,” the airline said.

The aircraft has since been grounded for safety checks.

“In adherence to our strict and uncompromising safety standards, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn from service for comprehensive inspection before returning to operations,” the statement added.

The carrier apologised to passengers, urging patience as efforts continue to manage the disruption.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this unforeseen development may cause to your travel plans and kindly appeal for the understanding and patience of our valued passengers and the general public,” it said.

The airline also assured travellers of support, noting that teams are working to reduce delays.

“Our team is working diligently to minimise disruptions and provide support to all affected travellers.”

The development adds to a series of recent bird strike incidents involving the airline.
