Tragedy struck a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos today when a female employee took her own life due to financial struggles.

Amarachi, a staffer at Globus Bank branch in Ikorodu, was found dead after consuming a poisonous substance believed to be sniper insecticide. Next to her body was a suicide note detailing her reasons for the drastic action.

In the letter, Amarachi cited extreme economic hardship, bleak future prospects, and a feeling that nothing was working in her life anymore. She apologized to her family and friends for her decision to end her life instead of continuing to struggle.

The incident has sparked reactions on social media from Nigerians empathizing with her situation and criticizing the poor state of the economy. One user wrote, “Nigeria will make you feel nothing is working in your life. The economy is getting harder.”

Another comment read, “When people depend on you and things are not working right the way they should and no one to call for help.” Some responses advised reaching out for help and offered messages of hope during these difficult times.

Amarachi’s suicide highlights the mounting pressures citizens face amid a declining national economy and rising costs of living. The tragedy raises concerns over mental health support in the country to prevent similar cases of hopelessness.
