President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, having concluded his annual vacation earlier than planned, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has confirmed.
“President Tinubu has ended his work vacation ahead of schedule and will resume official duties in Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,” Onanuga said in a statement on Monday.
The President had departed Nigeria on September 4 for France, with plans initially to divide his holiday between France and the United Kingdom. During the trip, he held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation and agreed to deepen partnerships for mutual prosperity and global stability.
This marks Tinubu’s seventh visit to Paris since assuming office in May 2023 and his first since attending the BRICS Summit in Brazil in July and the TICAD9 in Japan in August.
Onanuga noted that in the first nine months of 2025, President Tinubu has undertaken 15 international trips across 11 countries, participating in high-level summits, bilateral meetings, presidential inaugurations, and official holidays.
Highlights of the President’s 2025 diplomatic engagements include visits to Accra, Ghana for the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama; the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit in the UAE; the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Tanzania; the 37th African Union Summit in Ethiopia; a working visit to France and the UK; the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City; a state visit to Saint Lucia; the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil; and the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan.
Earlier this month, the President embarked on a working vacation to the United Kingdom and France, marking his third visit to Paris and second to London this year.
