An FCT High Court in Maitama has adjourned to July 4 the trial of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
Lawal was arraigned on a 10-count charge bothering on conspiracy and fraud to the tune of N544million along with Hamidu David Lawal, Suleiman Abubakar, Apeh John Monday and two companies, Rholavision Engineering Ltd and Josmon Technologies Ltd.
EFCC accused the former federal government scribe, in the case dubbed grass-cutting scandal, of benefiting illegally from the approval of N544million for the removal of invasive plant species and simplified irrigation.
At the resumed hearing yesterday, the court was told that Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), who is the counsel for the former SGF, was still indisposed and sent his apologies for his absence.
When asked by the presiding judge, Justice Jude Okeke, if she has any proof to place before the court to ascertain her claim, Adeyemi told the court that she had none but was speaking from the bar.
