The trial of the former Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Park Management System, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, otherwise known as Auxiliary, has suffered another adjournment as his counsel objected to the call of one of the witnesses at the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, on Thursday.

The case was adjourned till today, after the evidence and cross-examination of the 6th out of the 16 listed witnesses by the Prosecution counsel on Wednesday.

Defence Counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, objected to Inspector Innocent Agade, the Command Monitoring Unit, State Command, Eleyele, from being led in evidence on the ground that he is yet to be served with a witness summary of evidence.

Buttressing his argument with Section 380(ii) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Oyo state, he said that he ought to have been served with the statement prior to the hearing.

According to him, “I ought to have been served with the Summary of the statement. I need to have copies of photographic compact disc and other materials that the Prosecution counsel wants to use in support of the case.

“But the Prosecution counsel, Mr. S.O Adeoye did not make the document available”.

Consequently, the Presiding Judge, Justice Bayo Taiwo has adjourned the case for further hearing till 22nd January 2025 during which the defence counsel would have been duly served.

Nigerian Tribune had reported that Auxillary is facing trial on a 17-count charge bordering on armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and possession of firearms, including AK-47 assault rifles and two SMG rifles with magazines.

The offence, according to the charge is punishable under section 1(a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act CAP RII Vol 34 of Federation of Nigeria 2004.
