Justice Oyeyemi Ajayi of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned the murder trial of a former Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, to July 15, 2026.

The court fixed the new date on Thursday after proceedings in the case were stalled following the failure of the state counsel to file the necessary trial documents.

Justice Ajayi adjourned the matter till Wednesday for the adoption of final written addresses.

Lamidi is standing trial on a one-count charge of murder filed against him by the Oyo State Government.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant caused the death of one Wonuola Ayinde by knocking her down with his vehicle.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on September 23, 2023, at about 4:30 p.m. at the Government Reservation Area, GRA, Agodi, Ibadan.

The alleged offence is said to be contrary to Section 325 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which provides punishment for murder.

Lamidi, a prominent figure in Oyo State’s transport union sector, has been facing trial since his arraignment and has consistently pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was first arrested in May 2023 after a raid on his residence, during which firearms and charms were allegedly recovered.

He was later charged with murder in connection with Ayinde’s death.

The adjournment means the court will now continue with the matter on July 15, 2026, when parties are expected to adopt their final written addresses.
