Dasuki was arraigned before Justice Baba-Yusuf of FCT High Court Abuja alongside Shuaibu and a former Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Aminu Baba Kusa by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a 22-count charges bordering on fraud and money laundering. Before it was transferred to Justice Baba-Yusuf’s court, another set of charges were filed before Justice Peter Affen of the same FCT High Court in Maitama against Dasuki and a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda and a former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir Attahiru and their firm, Dalhatu Investment Ltd. At the resumed hearing today, counsel to Shuaibu, Barrister Adetayo Adeyemo informed the court that his client is absent because he took ill and he is on admission and a medical report from the hospital to that effect has been forwarded to the court registry and made available to other parties in the matters. Shuaibu is the 2nd defendant in the first matter and the case was for mention. However, prosecution counsel, Barrister Oluwaleke Atolagbe said since the case is a criminal case, the matter cannot go on in the absence of the 2nd defendant. He confirmed knowledge of the medical status of the 2nd defendant. Without objection from any of the parties, Justice Baba-Yusuf adjourned the matter to January 25th, 2016. When the second matter which has Yuguda and Bafarawa as co-defendants was called, the prosecution counsel said since the matter was just transferred from Justice Affen’s court, the matter is for arraignment. However, due to the absence of Shuaibu, who is the 3rd defendant in the second matter, the case was adjourned to January 24th, 2016 for arraignment.]]>
