Bali Ndam, a legal officer with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), testified before a Federal High Court in Abuja that Metuh’s Destra Investment Ltd was listed as No three among the companies and individuals that were paid for contracts not approved by the ONSA. Ndam, who was led in evidence by counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Sylvanus Tahir, also stated that the NSA, M.U. Monguno forwarded a letter to the EFCC dated November 28, 2015 titled: ‘Payment to Companies for Contracts without Award/Approval’. He said the company was attached to the list of firms listed on the e-payment mandate to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and signed by former NSA, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki for payment for rendering ‘security services’. However, under cross examination by defence counsel Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), Ndam admitted that the letter of the payment schedule confirmed that all due process was observed in the contract before the payment. He also identified in the ‘schedule’ a list of three operational vehicles claimed to have been purchased by Destra Ltd. A witness, Ms Nnenna Ararume on Monday testified that Metuh gave her portfolio management company, Assets and Resources Management (ARM), the sum of $2 million for investment. EFCC counsel, Tahir explained that the commission is investigating possible relationship of the sum with the $47 million allegedly pulled from the CBN in 13 briefcases by Dasuki which was shared during the December 2014 National Convention of the PDP. Metuh is facing charges of money laundering, criminal breach of trust and criminal diversion of public funds contrary to Section 15(2), (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act. He was alleged to have on November, 2014 received the sum of N400 million from the former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki through his company Destra Investment Ltd Justice Okon Abang has adjourned the case to Wednesday for further hearing.]]>
