The Nigerian Bar Association Judiciary Committee has published the names of applicants for the position of judges of the Federal High Court.

The Committee, in a Notice made available to TheNigeriaLawyer signed by its Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, says the candidates are 164 in number. It therefore calls on the public to submit petitions against the candidates as to the suitability or otherwise of their appointments on or before February 9, 2022.

ADDITIONAL JUDGES FOR THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT BENCH: EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Pursuant to a request received from the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court requesting nominations of suitable candidates for appointment to the Federal High Court Bench from the following states: Akwa-Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Kaduna, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Rivers, Sokoto and Zamfara States, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) issued a circular on 7th January, 2022 requesting its members who are interested in being nominated to forward their expressions of interest.

The NBA has received expressions of interest from 164 of its members. In its commitment to ensuring that the process for the appointment of judicial officers of our superior courts is made more transparent and that only persons of the appropriate character and reputation are appointed to the Bench, the NBA hereby publishes the list of the 164 potential appointees who submitted their expressions of interest.

We kindly request that members of the Bar and the general public who know of any reason why any of the persons listed in the table below should not be considered for appointment to the Federal High Court Bench should forward a petition stating their reasons in the manner and on the date and time set out below:

Deadline for Submission of Petition: 9th February, 2022
