The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) has declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of all 17 chairmanship seats contested in Saturday’s local government election across the state.

The Executive Chairman of the commission, Dr. Ibrahim Yabani, announced the results on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Damaturu, following the conclusion of collation from the 17 local government areas.
The election was conducted on Saturday, September 26, across Yobe’s 178 electoral wards, with 10 political parties participating in the exercise.
Yabani explained that votes were counted and collated after polling, with councillorship results declared at ward level while chairmanship results were announced at the respective local government collation centres in accordance with the electoral process.
“Our duty here is just to announce what was declared at the collation centres so that we can now declare who are the winners,” he said.
According to the results announced by the commission, Musa Dagona of the APC won the chairmanship election in Bade Local Government Area with 54,312 votes, while Lawan Bukar was declared winner in Bursari with 24,331 votes.
In Damaturu, APC candidate Bukar Adamu emerged winner with 18,465 votes, while Abdulmumin Usani secured the chairmanship seat in Fika with 61,326 votes.
The commission also declared Baba-Goni Bade winner in Fune Local Government Area after polling 74,411 votes.
In Geidam, Mohammed Musa was declared elected with 35,832 votes, while Dala Mala won in Gujba with 27,900 votes.
Dayyabu Ilu secured the Gulani chairmanship seat with 35,999 votes, while Umaru Aguya won in Jakusko after polling 47,653 votes.
For Karasuwa Local Government Area, Umara Mohammed was declared winner with 39,320 votes.
Yabani further announced Idriss Mai Bukar as winner in Machina with 24,092 votes, while Samaila Musa emerged victorious in Nangere with 37,780 votes.
In Nguru, APC candidate Mohammed Malami was declared winner with 45,836 votes, while Salisu Muktari won the chairmanship election in Potiskum with 58,705 votes.
The commission also declared Mohammed Musa winner in Tarmuwa with 19,500 votes.
In Yunusari, Zanna Zakaria emerged winner after polling 35,848 votes, while Adam Jibrin completed the APC’s sweep by winning the chairmanship election in Yusufari with 31,930 votes.
The declaration means the ruling APC secured the chairmanship positions in all 17 local government areas following the September 26 council polls.
The election had earlier been reported as largely peaceful across the state. Yobe Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, after voting at Polling Unit 008 in Dogon Kuka Ward, Fune Local Government Area, commended the electoral commission over the conduct of the exercise and expressed satisfaction with voter participation.
