Dana Air is facing backlash from angry passengers stranded at Lagos airport on Saturday after the airline failed to properly communicate flight delays and cancellations.

Over a hundred ticketed flyers bound for Owerri and Port Harcourt waited hours past departure times with no updates until their flights were abruptly cancelled due to aircraft issues.

The affected Lagos to Owerri flight had been listed as arriving from Abuja shortly after 1 pm. But with no plane in sight even by the scheduled 1:50 pm departure, frustrated passengers reported being left completely uninformed by Dana Air staff about the lengthy holdup. It was not until after 4 pm when a passenger bribed an airline official that flyers learned their flight was cancelled.

Stranded passengers detail extreme dissatisfaction with Dana Air’s handling of the situation, from never announcing boarding to eventually informing flyers nearly 3 hours past takeoff time their plane was unavailable. The airline provided no accommodation, refunds, or assistance for the sudden cancellation.

Industry critics highlight this incident as part of wider concerns about Dana Air’s operational issues and poor customer service.

With flight fares spiking on rival airlines due to stranded passenger demand Saturday evening, hundreds were left with steep transport costs and missed appointments through no direct fault of their own. Still reeling from the travel turmoil at Lagos airport over the weekend, many aim to launch formal complaints against the airline’s perceived dismissive treatment.
