The Lagos State Police Command on Friday arraigned hip-hop artist Ice Prince Zamani at an Ajah Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged abduction and assault.

The Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Ice Prince was arraigned on a three-count charge which included assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out his statutory duties and abduction.

Hundeyin neither disclosed the ‘Oleku’ crooner’s plea nor whether he was granted bail.

He, however, revealed that the Police intended to tender video evidence against the rapper.

The spokesman in a tweet on Friday morning narrated how the veteran rapper was arrested.

“At 3am today, Ice Prince was stopped for driving without license plates.

“He agreed to be taken to the station. He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today,” Hundeyin tweeted.

Responding to questions about the police’s evidence against Ice Prince, he responded in another tweet.

“For those asking for video evidence, yes we have it. And no, we won’t release it. A very close ally of his has seen it. It will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of our evidence,” Hundeyin said.

This arraignment is coming a few days after the Command stated that singer Daniel Benson, professionally known as BNXN, will face sanctions for assaulting and spitting on a police officer.
