The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has assured the public that it will apply fairness and professionalism in its investigations on the allegation of assault involving the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar.

A viral video on social media had captured the moment Umar and a security guard were being separated from an altercation at Banex Shopping Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja.

Reacting to the incident, the Command through a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, revealed that the police are carrying out discreet investigations.

The statement said, “Following the incident of alleged assault involving the CCT Chairman and a security guard that occurred at Bannex Plaza on Monday, March 29, 2021, the Command wishes to state categorically that discreet investigation is still ongoing.

“Hence, the Commissioner of Police CP Bala Ciroma wishes to reassure members of the public that the Command will be professional, fair and thorough in its investigation

“Furthermore, the Command urges residents to remain calm and allow the law take its cause.”

TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that Police invited the man who witnessed the assault of the security guard by Umar  Danladi as a suspect.

The Nigerian Police Force, FCT Command has invited Oyuho Augustine Samuel, who was a witness to the assault of a security guard, Clement Sagwak,  at Banex, Abuja.

According to the letter sighted by TheNigerialawyer titled “LETTER OF INVITATION CASE OF CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY,  JOINT ACT,  ASSAULT CRIMINAL FORCE AND MISCHIEF, OYUHO AUGUSTINE SAMUEL” the FCT Command invited him to obtain clarification from him as regards after he gave a statement at the Criminal Investigation Department, FCT Police Command.

In the letter signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP. Magawata Mode, Oyuho is to make himself available on the 6th of April, by 10: 00 am.

Going by the letter of invitation sent to Mr. Oyuho, it is suspected that he has been pinpointed by the Nigeria Police as a suspect who assaulted Mr. Umar Danladi, the CCT Chairman.
