Reality star and actress Phyna has provided an update on the condition of her sister, Ruth Otabor, who sustained severe injuries in a truck accident near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on August 13, 2025.
The accident reportedly resulted in the amputation of one of Ruth’s legs and left her in critical condition.
Phyna revealed that the Dangote Group initially agreed to support Ruth’s medical treatment, including facilitating her transfer abroad for further care. However, she claims that the company later requested a medical report from the hospital in Lagos stating that they could not handle Ruth’s condition an action she described as unreasonable and frustrating.
Speaking in a live Instagram video, Phyna emphasized the urgency of her sister’s situation, noting the critical injuries Ruth sustained, including damage to her reproductive system, bladder, and lungs. She said, “Her lungs have fluid. Her reproductive organ is crushed. Her bladder is busted. We are praying every day for her to get to the next day. And you’re trying to outsmart me… I cannot use my sister’s life to gamble.”
Phyna further explained that all necessary documents for Ruth’s medical evacuation are ready and that the hospital had confirmed she could be moved. She expressed disappointment that Dangote Group insisted on additional medical reports despite prior agreements to stabilize Ruth in Lagos before her transfer abroad.
She added, “If Dangote’s child is sick, they don’t wait for medical reports to tell them to treat the child in Nigeria. My sister needs urgent attention, and these delays are unacceptable.”
