The fate of Senator Adamu Aliero to contest for the Kebbi Central senatorial district seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s general elections is hanging in the balance.

Aliero’s opponent in the PDP primary election, Haruna Sa’id, has threatened court action should the party deny him the ticket.

Sa’id was earlier declared as the flag-bearer of the party, being the only contender in the race. But after Aliero decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, a fresh primary election was organised for the duo.

Announcing the result, the chairman of the election committee, Baba Lawal Aliyu, a lawyer, said Aliero scored 246 votes while Sa’id had 15.

But speaking to our correspondent yesterday, Sa’id denied participating in any election against Aliero, saying he remains the flag-bearer of the party, having secured the ticket unopposed.
