Justice Babajide Aladejana of the Ekiti State High Court has resumed duties after being reinstated by the National Judicial Council (NJC), ending his 16-year suspension from the bench.

Justice Aladejana and former state Chief Judge, Justice Kayode Bamisile, were suspended in 2006 during the administration of ex-Chief Justice Alfa Belgore over their alleged involvement in the political crisis and impeachment saga of then-Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The NJC recently reviewed Justice Aladejana’s case and lifted his suspension. On Tuesday, he officially resumed work at High Court 2 in Ado-Ekiti, where he has been allocated to hear cases and perform judicial functions.

Justice Aladejana’s reinstatement comes after 16 years on suspension over the alleged N1.4 billion poultry scandal under Governor Fayose that led to the governor’s impeachment in 2006. Both Justice Aladejana and Justice Bamisile were accused of abuse of office and operating illegal foreign accounts.
