Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer, Mr. Kanayo O. Kanayo, MFR, whose real name is Modestus Onyekwere, has confirmed his attendance and will serve as compere for the opening ceremony.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for lawyers, judges, policymakers, academics, civil society actors and other stakeholders to examine the role of law and public-interest advocacy in strengthening Nigeria’s justice system, democratic institutions and development process.

With Osinbajo leading the keynote conversation, the CJN delivering a Special Address and the Attorney-General of the Federation presenting the Distinguished NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference Speech, organisers say the Umuahia gathering will feature wide-ranging perspectives on the relationship between justice, democracy and development.

The participation of South-East governors and other political leaders will also bring governance and regional perspectives into the discussions, while contributions from Utomi, Henry and Amadi are expected to broaden the conversation around public interest, human rights, democratic accountability and institutional development.
