Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, the Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, has cautioned Nigerians against disrespecting the New-Old Nigerian National Anthem. However, he fails to quote the specific section of the law that outlines the legal implications.

As a concerned citizen and legal practitioner, Dr. Ajulo expressed dismay at the recent commentary from certain individuals who have openly boasted about their disdain for the national anthem. He warned that these individuals are brazenly defying the law by refusing to stand, sing, or show respect when the anthem is played.

Dr. Ajulo reminded the public that such actions are considered a grave sign of disrespect and can incur serious legal consequences. He cited the Nigerian National Anthem Act, but did not provide the specific section that stipulates the penalties.

“I have been dismayed by recent commentaries from certain individuals who brazenly boast about their disdain for the New-Old Nigerian National Anthem,” Dr. Ajulo stated. “Let them be reminded that such actions are considered a grave sign of disrespect and can incur serious legal consequences.”

The Ondo State Attorney General urged all Nigerians to take heed and show the necessary respect for the national anthem, emphasizing the importance of upholding the law and preserving the dignity of the nation.

“I implore all to take heed and show the necessary respect for our national anthem,” Dr. Ajulo concluded, without specifying the legal provisions that could be invoked against those who refuse to sing or show respect for the national anthem.
