Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has again appealed for amicable resolution of the ongoing strike by the state chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

He hosted a delegation of JUSUN national executives led by the President, Comrade Marwan Adamu, seeking their intervention to end the dispute.

Expressing concerns over the disruption of justice administration, Governor Adeleke recounted his previous efforts including paying withheld salaries of some judicial staff and negotiations on wardrobe allowances. However, he noted that the issues are beyond the executive arm as it is a judicial matter.

While assuring his full support, the Governor urged the national leadership of JUSUN to interface with all parties involved to find lasting solutions and restore industrial harmony in the state judiciary.

Responding, the JUSUN President regretted the prolonged strike paralyzing Osun judiciary, blaming it on his ill-health. He promised to meet relevant stakeholders and resolve the issues such that normal court operations will resume soon.

The Osun JUSUN strike started over issues bordering on welfare of judiciary workers including non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary. Courts have been shut across the state for months, delaying administration of justice.

Analysts say the intervention by JUSUN national body on invitation by Governor Adeleke could signal final resolution for the strike. The Governor has shown commitment to end the dispute in a bid to accelerate his administration’s justice sector reforms.
