A human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Ebun Olu Adegboruwa, will on the 3rd of August, 2021 serve as a Guest Speaker at the 24th Wole Soyinka Lecture Series slated for 3rd of August, 2021 tagged “National Conference Against Impunity”
The invitation was extended to the distinguished silk by the Conveners, The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity).
In a letter dated July 9, 2021, addressed to Adegboruwa, the Association explains that the objectives of the conference is to promote good governance, social justice and the advancement of democratic ideals in Nigeria and beyond.
The letter reads in part, “The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), the convener of the Wole Soyinka Lecture Series (WSLS), wishes to formally invite you to the 24th edition of the Wole Soyinka Lecture Series as a guest speaker at the National Conference Against Impunity in Nigeria.
“This year, the 24th WSLS will be held in a conference format involving among others, members of the judicial and legal communities, as well as representatives of media and press freedom organizations, civil society, government, Nigerian human rights defenders and activists, labor and student unions, and the private sector.
“The foremost objective of the Wole Soyinka Lecture Series is to promote good governance, social justice and the advancement of democratic ideals in Nigeria and beyond.
“This objective is actualized by facilitating discourse on issues that are pertinent, exigent and paramount to resolving human conflicts on a national and global scale, wherever they exist, upholding the boulders of human dignity and respect, wherever they are trodden upon and raising the banner of egalitarianism and good governance as they affect citizenship and decent livelihood.
“We believe that your antecedents as a persistent voice in the quest for good governance, human rights and most especially your commitment to social justice, equality and family values will adequately set the tone for an interesting conference.”
