Access Holdings Plc, one of Africa’s leading financial services groups, has announced the appointment of Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR as its new Non-Executive Chairman, marking his return to the Group after a decade-long hiatus.

Aig-Imoukhuede replaces Mr. Abubakar Jimoh, the outgoing Chairman, who will remain on the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

The decision to bring back Aig-Imoukhuede as the Group’s Non-Executive Chairman comes in the wake of the untimely passing of the immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CFR. After extensive consultations with key stakeholders, the Board unanimously invited Aig-Imoukhuede to assume the helm of governance, recognizing his exceptional leadership qualities and proven track record of success.

The announcement is contained in a public statement titled “Access Holdings Plc Announces the Return of Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede (Pioneer Access Bank Group Managing Director/CEO as Holdco Chairman After 10 Years,” which was signed by the Company Secretary, Mr. Sunday Ekwochi.

During his previous tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank between 2002 and 2013, Aig-Imoukhuede played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for the bank’s remarkable growth and transformation. Under his stewardship, Access Bank evolved from a minor player into one of Nigeria’s top five banks, with a presence in nine other African countries and the United Kingdom.

“I am thrilled to be back in active service to the Access Group ecosystem,” Aig-Imoukhuede stated. “I am confident that working with our directors, our exceptional team of executives, and our best-in-class banking and finance professionals, we will deliver outstanding value to our esteemed stakeholders.”

Commenting on the appointment, the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Abubakar Jimoh, expressed excitement about the Group’s future, stating, “Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede’s appointment to the Board and subsequent election as Chairman is a landmark development for Access Holdings. All our board members are excited about our future.”
