The CEO of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, has been feared killed in a chopper crash in California.
He was reportedly on board with about five others when the chopper crashed.
Sources said the chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday night.
The US government confirmed all on board dead.
Wigwe was said to be with his wife, one of their children , as well as Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group).
“We were made aware of a downed aircraft at approximately 10:12 p.m., on February 10, 2024. The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the sheriff’s department said.
The FAA identified the helicopter as a Eurocopter EC 130.
Nipton is a small town in San Bernardino County located about 12 miles southeast of Primm, Nevada.
The National Transportation Safety Board and F.A.A. are investigating the crash, officials said. Representatives from the N.T.S.B. are expected to arrive at the site on Saturday.
This is a developing story.
