The Abuja Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre (ACC-DRC), in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), organized a training and certification program on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Registry/Secretarial Services on the 17th of July, 2019.

The training workshop targeted Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) members as part of their 2019 NBA Law Week celebration.

The training was aimed at equipping lawyers with the skills required for ADR Registry/Secretarial Services, as well as giving the lawyers an insight into other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

In her welcome address, the Director of the ACC-DRC, Aisha Ado Abdullahi, stressed the importance of acquiring ADR skills, particularly ADR Registry skills, especially, but not limited to, young lawyers. She explained that it would not only give lawyers additional skills but provide an avenue for learning and garnering experience in dispute resolution first hand.

She assured the lawyers that the Abuja Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre is a one-stop Dispute Resolution Centre for small, medium and large enterprise disputes and urged them to utilize the opportunities offered by this course and the Centre.

The Chairman of NBA Unity Bar, Mr. Abimbola Kayode, in his remarks, appreciated the ACC-DRC and ICMC for their contribution towards the development and use of alternative dispute resolution and applauded their continuous partnership with the branch.

He further advised the members of the NBA Unity Bar to make good use of their newly acquired skills.
