The 2021 edition of the Abuja Lawyers league has kicked off in style.
This year, 16 law firms in Abuja registered to jostle for the trophy. According to the organizer of the event, Mr Olujinmi Poko, this year has witnessed the arrival of new teams which include Rahusa FC and Gadzama FC.
In the first week of fixtures, the new boys faced each other as Gadzama FC beat Rahusa FC 3-1 to top Group A whilst Maikyau FC beat Lion FC 1-0. In Group B, GLA FC – the current holders of the trophy beat FAA FC 3-0 to top the group whilst Bin Okoto beat O and A warriors 2-0.
In the second week of fixtures, in Group C, Chris Uche FC beat Philemon FC 2-1 and J.B. Daudu FC beat Elite Lawyers Association FC 2-1. Finally, in Grouo D, Afe Babalola FC beat Yusuf Ali 4-1 to top the Group while Manilla stars were held to a 2-2 draw with Omaplex FC.
The essence of the competition is more than just about winning, it is the opportunity to network, exercise, and promote unity amongst members of the bar that is crucial.
The games will continue on Saturday, May 29, 2021, wherein Gadzama FC takes on Lion FC.
