The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Faculty of Law has received a boost with the donation of a solar power system valued at N11 million by the LL.B Class of 1978.

The solar facility, which includes a 10KVA inverter system, 6.6KW solar panels, and a 30KW lithium battery backup, is set to enhance power reliability for lecture halls and staff offices.

During a ceremony held at the university, Prof. Auwalu Hamisu Yadudu, Deputy President of the Class of 1978, officially presented the solar power system to ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala. Prof. Yadudu emphasized that the donation was made possible through the generous contributions of class members, fulfilling a pledge made during their reunion in July 2024. He further expressed the class’s commitment to giving back to the faculty that shaped their careers and their hope that the donation would alleviate power disruptions, providing a better learning environment for current law students.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, expressed the university’s gratitude for the donation, noting its critical timing amid ongoing power challenges. He urged other alumni to emulate this effort in supporting the institution.

The ceremony was attended by notable alumni, including Danmasanin Zazzau, Alhaji Falalu Bello Esq., and Prof. Ibrahim Na’iya Sada. The Dean of Law, Prof. Salim Bashir Magashi, described the initiative as impactful and invaluable for the faculty.

The solar power system, which is expected to improve the reliability of electricity supply within the Faculty of Law, serves as a testament to the enduring commitment of the ABU Law Class of 1978 to their alma mater and their desire to contribute to the academic success of future generations of law students.
