Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Justice Saidu Kawu Court House in Ilorin, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project.

The governor was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara.

Speaking with reporters during the visit, AbdulRazaq said the multistorey court complex was conceived to provide the judiciary with a more decent, modern and conducive working environment.

According to him, judges should not be made to work in substandard offices or poor infrastructure.

“The work is going on very well. This is the major building of the Court House. We are trying to give the judiciary a better working environment,” the governor said.

He said his administration was committed to improving standards in the justice sector, noting that the project was designed as a model that could be emulated in other parts of the country.

“We have seen what His Excellency Nyesom Wike has done for the judiciary and we are trying to give another great edifice and masterpiece architecture that offers a very conducive environment for the judiciary,” AbdulRazaq said.

“So, all we are doing is to make sure the standards are improved.

“The judges shouldn’t be doing their work in sub-standard offices and infrastructure. So, we are also setting a standard that can be emulated in other parts of the country.”

On his part, Justice Adebara commended the governor for what he described as his consistent attention to the welfare and needs of the judiciary in Kwara State.

The Chief Judge said the court house, when completed, would ease judicial work and improve the administration of justice in the state.

“I am highly impressed and elated with what I have seen this afternoon. So, I want to, on behalf of the judiciary of Kwara State, appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the wonderful job he is doing for the judiciary,” he said.

“Not only this one, he is doing so many other things for the judiciary. But, with regard to this, it will greatly ease our jobs.”

Justice Adebara noted that several courts in Ilorin are currently scattered across different locations, adding that the new project would provide a more compact and coordinated headquarters for the judiciary.

“We can see that our courts are just scattered all over in Ilorin and when this project is finally completed, we will have a compact headquarters in Ilorin,” he said.

“Other courts will be able to accommodate more judges and administration of justice will move on smoothly in the state. So, Your Excellency, we thank you sir.”

The Justice Saidu Kawu Court House is expected to strengthen judicial infrastructure in Kwara State and provide judges, court officials, lawyers and litigants with a more suitable environment for the administration of justice.
