A press statement made available to our correspondent by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Ekwezuo, explained that a motion for the suspension of the Clerk was moved by the Majority Leader of the House and member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency, Mr. Lugard Osuji. Sequel to the motion which alleged under-performance and non-compliance with certain laid down rules and procedures of the House in the discharge of his duties as the basis for the motion, a five-man committee led by Mr. Kennedy Ibeh, (Obowo state constituency) was set up to investigate Duru’s activities from 2011 till date to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the allegation. According to the CPS, the committee have one week to submit its report to the House.
