According to the statement made available to “TheNigeriaLawyer” Mrs. Nnamani-Kuku is the wife of a person who has disobeyed the orders of the FCT High Court and is currently a fugitive from justice and have not being in litigation practice for about one year until now. The former Vice chairman and chairman of Enugu Branch also added that there are many sound lawyers in Enugu that are capable for this exhorted position, such persons should be given the opportunity to add value to justice delivery in Nigeria. Here’s the press release, “My attention has been drawn to a press release put out on social media by Nigerians United in Diaspora Against Corruption (NUIDAC) objecting to the recommendation of Mrs. Nnamani-Kuku as judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, by the FCT Judicial Service Commission to the National Judicial Council. The reasons for NUIDAC’s objections are eloquently stated in their statement, and include the following: An absence of litigation practice by the proposed judge until about one year ago. That Mrs. Nnamani-Kuku is the wife of a person who has disobeyed the orders of the FCT High Court and is currently a fugitive from justice. Furthermore, I have been made to understand that said Mrs. Nnamani-Kuku is proposed to take a slot reserved for Enugu State in the FCT High Court. Having practiced law in Enugu for 32 years, although not from Enugu State, I am in a position to assert that there are many fine lawyers from Enugu who have the capacity to add value to justice delivery in Nigeria; and it would be beyond tragic if the allegations by NUIDAC are proven to be true, and Mrs. Nnamani-Kuku gets appointed a judge nonetheless. It is in this light that the NJC are urged to investigate the objections of NUIDAC with the dispassionate seriousness they deserve.”]]>
