Gowon lamented that Nigeria had long waited for true justice, adding that Nigerians were “struck down but not destroyed.” The former head of state, who was represented by his younger brother, Dr. Dauda Gowon, said, “Legal practitioners, administer true justice. Show mercy so that Nigerians will know that the God of justice lives here too. Nigerians are waiting because they have such a hope that you are competent and will give us justice. Nigerians are hard pressed on every side but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, struck down but not destroyed. “A stance against injustice ensures people’s confidence.
