President Bola Tinubu is expected to unveil a six-volume publication chronicling landmark cases handled by former Nigerian Bar Association President, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, over five decades of legal practice.

The publication, titled Wole Olanipekun Through the Cases, will be unveiled on November 19, 2026, during the WOC Justice Summit, a day after Olanipekun’s 75th birthday and in commemoration of his 50 years at the Nigerian Bar.

According to the organisers, the six-volume work examines some of the cases that have defined Olanipekun’s legal career and highlights his contributions to the development of Nigerian law and jurisprudence since his call to the Bar in 1976.

The publication carries forewords by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON, and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

It features contributions from retired jurists, legal scholars, Senior Advocates of Nigeria and other practitioners, offering commentaries on cases spanning Olanipekun’s five decades of advocacy.

Born on November 18, 1951, Olanipekun was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1976 and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in July 1991, a few months before his 40th birthday.

He later served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the old Ondo State and was elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2002.

Olanipekun also served as Chairman of the Body of Benchers between 2022 and 2023.

He is currently Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos, his alma mater, having previously served as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan and Ajayi Crowther University.

He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ajayi Crowther University and Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti.

Over his 50 years at the Bar and 35 years as a Senior Advocate, Olanipekun has appeared in several major constitutional, electoral and commercial cases that have contributed to the development of Nigerian jurisprudence.

The organisers said the publication also examines his role in presidential election litigation, noting that he has acted as lead counsel in election-related legal challenges involving successive Nigerian presidents since 2007.

The November 19 unveiling will take place as part of the WOC Justice Summit, an initiative of Wole Olanipekun & Co. established as a platform for legal practitioners, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss reforms and developments within Nigeria’s justice sector.

The theme of the 2026 summit is “From Precedent to Possibility: The Lawyer’s Role in Shaping the Next Fifty Years of Justice, Democracy and Public Trust.”

The summit is expected to bring together senior members of the judiciary and legal profession, policymakers, political leaders, business executives and other stakeholders to examine the future of justice delivery, democracy and public confidence in legal institutions.

It will also provide a platform to reflect on Olanipekun’s five decades in legal practice and the impact of the cases featured in the publication on Nigerian law.

Further details on the programme and participating personalities are expected to be announced before the November 19 event.
