A legal practitioner, scholar and author, O. G. Ogbom, Esq., Ph.D., has donated more than 100 customised jerseys to the male and female football teams of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch, as part of efforts to boost team spirit, identity and performance ahead of future competitions.

The jerseys, which also covered some supporters of the teams, were formally unveiled on October 10, 2026, during a football match between the NBA Port Harcourt teams and United Allstars of Abuloma.

Ogbom presented the jerseys alongside his wife and explained that the gesture was inspired by what he observed during the recently concluded NBA Annual General Conference football competition.

According to him, the jerseys worn by the Port Harcourt Branch teams at the competition did not carry the players’ names, unlike those of some other participating teams.

He said the difference stood out to him and motivated him to provide new jerseys that would give the teams a stronger sense of identity and belonging.

While presenting the kits, Ogbom urged the players to wear them with pride and allow them to serve as a source of motivation towards greater unity, commitment and sporting achievement.

He expressed optimism that the donation would help strengthen team spirit and improve the performance of both the male and female teams in future competitions, particularly at the next NBA Annual General Conference.

Ogbom also challenged the players to translate the support into results on the field, assuring them that he was prepared to do even more if they returned from future competitions with trophies.

“If you return with trophies, I am ready to do more,” he told the teams.

The donation adds to efforts within the NBA Port Harcourt Branch to encourage sporting participation and camaraderie among members, with the new jerseys expected to give the teams a more coordinated and professional appearance during competitions.
