*Adds Group Registration Discount

The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law, NBA-SPIDEL, has extended the Early Bird registration deadline for its 2026 Annual Conference from September 30 to October 14, giving intending delegates another two weeks to register at the discounted rate.

The extension was announced by the Chairman of the NBA-SPIDEL 2026 Annual Conference Planning Committee, Sir Ejike Ezenwa, SAN, who said the decision followed the level of interest shown by participants, particularly those who were unable to complete their registration before the initial deadline.

According to Ezenwa, the additional registration period is intended to ensure that more lawyers, public-interest advocates, development practitioners and other prospective delegates are able to take advantage of the discounted Early Bird package.

“The Early Bird window has now been extended from 30th September, 2026 to the 14th October, 2026,” the statement said.

“This extended period is granted in response to the high interest shown by participants whose registration could not be concluded and is also aimed at giving participants more time to register at the discounted rate.”

Alongside the extension, NBA-SPIDEL has introduced a discounted Group Registration package for both members and non-members, adding another option for organisations, law firms, institutions and groups planning to attend the conference together.

The 2026 Annual Conference is scheduled to hold from November 9 to November 13 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia State.

The conference is expected to bring together lawyers, activists, policymakers, civil society actors and other stakeholders working in public interest and development law to examine issues affecting governance, rights, accountability and national development.

Organisers said delegates would not only benefit from the Early Bird discount and the conference sessions but would also have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of selected tourist attractions in Abia State.

The tourism component is expected to give participants an opportunity to experience parts of the state beyond the formal conference setting.

NBA-SPIDEL described its Annual Conference as a major gathering for stakeholders in the public-interest and development sectors, with discussions expected to centre on contemporary issues led by activists, lawyers and other professionals.

In its notice announcing the extension, the conference planning committee urged intending participants not to wait until the new deadline before completing registration.

“Hurry now and take advantage of this 14 days extended period,” the committee said.

“CATCH THE EARLY BIRD.”

Registration is being conducted through the NBA-SPIDEL conference portal.

The committee also provided enquiry lines for prospective delegates: +234 806 308 8182, +234 814 368 8011, +234 702 502 2123, +234 803 791 0286 and +234 803 050 2533.

“Register today and be a part of this world class conference,” Ezenwa said in the statement.

With the extension now in place, intending delegates have until October 14 to take advantage of the Early Bird rate before the conference opens in Umuahia on November 9.
