The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates to accept or reject outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to November 30, 2026, following a temporary disruption of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, explaining that CAPS had been unavailable for approximately 96 hours.
He said the disruption necessitated a further extension of the September 30 deadline, giving affected candidates a final opportunity to resolve their outstanding admission offers.
“The board has approved November 30, 2026, as the final deadline for candidates in this category to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers,” Benjamin said.
The extension concerns unresolved offers from the 2021–2025 admission exercises. Candidates affected by the directive are expected to access their CAPS accounts and indicate whether they wish to accept or reject those offers before the deadline.
Benjamin warned that candidates who failed to act by November 30 would no longer be permitted to accept or reject the outstanding offers within the current window. Any later request to update the admission records would attract a penalty.
“Any subsequent request to update an admission record relating to these previous years will attract the applicable penalty fee,” he said.
He also warned that candidates whose admissions were not reflected on the matriculation list could encounter difficulties accessing benefits associated with properly documented admissions, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
The spokesman urged affected candidates to act promptly rather than wait until the final day.
He explained that candidates who accepted their outstanding offers would be able to print their admission letters, while those who rejected the offers would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted.”
According to Benjamin, the exercise would enable JAMB to update its records and ensure that the national admission database accurately reflected candidates’ current admission status.
He said candidates who were no longer studying at the institutions where they had been offered admission could accept the outstanding offers and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion, where applicable.
For candidates currently pursuing a second degree but still carrying an unaccepted admission offer from a previous year, Benjamin said they could reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
He further clarified that candidates who had secured admission during the 2026 exercise would not lose their current admission by rejecting an outstanding offer from an earlier year.
“Candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an outstanding admission offer from an earlier year have no cause for apprehension.
“Such candidates may reject the previous admission offer, and doing so will not affect their 2026 admission,” he said.
Benjamin reiterated that the extension was intended to help affected candidates resolve their admission status and assist the Board in maintaining accurate, current and reliable national admission records.
He stressed that November 30 remained the final deadline for accepting or rejecting outstanding offers from the five admission exercises.
“At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from these years that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to ‘Not Admitted’ status on the board’s records,” he said.
The Board consequently urged affected candidates to take immediate action, warning that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period could render the offer invalid.
