Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-term partner, Georgina Rodríguez, have officially married in a private civil ceremony in Portugal, with details emerging that the couple signed a prenuptial agreement to keep their respective assets separate.

The 41-year-old Portuguese football star and the 32-year-old Argentine-born model reportedly married on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Ronaldo’s newly built mansion in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon.

The ceremony was described by Ronaldo’s public relations representatives as “a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.”

A day before the wedding, on August 10, the couple reportedly visited a public notary’s office in Lisbon where they formalised a prenuptial agreement establishing a separate property regime.

Under the arrangement, assets owned by Ronaldo and Rodríguez before the marriage will remain individually held rather than becoming jointly owned through the marriage.

Both are also expected to retain their pre-marriage names, with Rodríguez not adopting Ronaldo’s surname.

A copy of the marriage certificate reportedly published in Portugal listed Ronaldo’s full name, age, birthplace and parents, including his late father, José Dinis Aveiro.

Similar information was recorded for Rodríguez, who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The marriage certificate was reportedly registered under number 1,493 for the year.

The wedding was officiated by registrar Maria Manuel Ferreira de Campos Folhadela de Oliveira, who reportedly travelled from Porto to Cascais for the ceremony.

Reports surrounding the guest list have, however, differed.

While the couple’s representatives confirmed that all five children were present, Portuguese reports said only four witnesses attended the ceremony.

Those reportedly named as witnesses were Georgina’s sister, Ivana Rodríguez; Ronaldo’s long-time friend Miguel Paixão; and Spanish jeweller José Rodríguez Sangil and his wife, Monica Gonzalez Martinez.

Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings Hugo, Elma and Katia were reportedly absent from the ceremony.

Their reported absence generated speculation in Portugal, particularly because Ronaldo has repeatedly spoken publicly about the important role his mother played in his life and football career.

Portuguese television presenter Cristina Ferreira suggested that the secrecy surrounding the wedding may have extended to members of Ronaldo’s family.

“It will cause a lot of problems because the family wasn’t present. And they shouldn’t even have known. Or if they did know, it was 30 seconds beforehand,” she reportedly said during a television programme.

Her co-host Claudio Ramos, however, cautioned against drawing firm conclusions from appearances and social media speculation.

“I really hope that what we said here, which had to do with the impressions we get from what exists on social media, did not actually cause sadness in the family, that things were not as they apparently seem,” he said.

Dolores has previously denied reports of any disagreement with Georgina and publicly reacted to Ronaldo’s marriage announcement with a heart emoji.

Neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez has publicly suggested that the reported absence of some family members was the result of any dispute.

The civil ceremony reportedly took place at about 1:30 p.m. at Ronaldo’s 900-square-metre property in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The mansion has been reported to be worth about £30 million.

The wedding date also carried significance for the couple, coming exactly one year after Rodríguez publicly announced their engagement on August 11, 2025.

The couple announced their marriage publicly by sharing a photograph of their hands displaying their wedding rings.

The understated announcement attracted widespread reactions from supporters, many of whom praised the couple for keeping the ceremony private despite Ronaldo’s global fame.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been together for nearly a decade after meeting in Madrid while she was working at a Gucci store.

They made one of their earliest public appearances together in January 2017 at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich, before Ronaldo later publicly acknowledged their relationship on social media.

Together, they are parents to daughters Alana, eight, and Bella, four.

Ronaldo also has three other children — Cristiano Jr., 16, and twins Eva Maria and Mateo, nine — all of whom form part of the family raised by the couple.

Reports said the newlyweds have since returned to Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo captains Al Nassr.

The Portuguese forward, a five-time world player of the year, is expected to return to football duties as Al Nassr begins its domestic campaign.

The revelation of the prenuptial agreement has meanwhile attracted attention because of Ronaldo’s substantial personal wealth and business interests.

The arrangement means that, despite formally becoming husband and wife, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have chosen to maintain legal separation of their individual property and assets acquired before the marriage.

The couple has not publicly disclosed further financial details of the agreement.
