Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has increased the number of Ministries in the state to 29 with the creation of the Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations.

The new Ministry, according to a statement by Secretary to the Edo State Government, Musa Ikhilor, was established to promote inter-ethnic and inter-community harmony, strengthen peaceful coexistence, and harness the rich and ever-evolving diversity of Edo citizens as an asset for the development and unity of the State.

Ikhilor said Governor Okpebholo also approved the deployment of newly sworn-in Commissioners with a view to strengthening governance, enhancing efficiency and improving service delivery across the State.

According to the statement, Mr. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery was deployed to the Ministry of Mining, Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli was assigned to the Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations.

It said the Governor redeployed three Commissioners.

Those redeployed are Commissioner for Communications, Ohimai Ehijimetor, who was redeployed to the Ministry of Livestock Development.

The Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Omorodion Ikponmwosa, was redeployed to the Ministry of Oil and Gas while Mr. Andrew Momodu, was redeployed from the Ministry for Oil and Gas to the Ministry of Communications.

The statement said all deployments and redeployments were with immediate effect, even as it urged affected Commissioners to ensure seamless handover and assumption of duties in their respective Ministries.
