Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has died at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced that he passed away in Lagos on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

His death was confirmed in a statement titled, “Announcement of the Passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family.

The family described the deceased as a distinguished businessman and devoted Christian whose life was marked by integrity, generosity, hard work and service to God.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family said Anthony’s faith and commitment to those around him positively affected the lives of many people.

“He was 62 years old. Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” it added.

The family said it was relying on its Christian faith for strength and comfort as it mourned what it described as an irreplaceable loss.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Kemi; his children; and his siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, the founder of Kuramo Capital.

The family expressed appreciation to relatives, friends and associates who had reached out with prayers, condolences and other forms of support following his death.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement concluded.

The family said details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.

The statement did not disclose the cause of his death.

Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance between November 2015 and September 2018 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
