A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed Abdulghani Arobo as the lawful candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State.

Arobo had approached the court in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/26, challenging issues arising from the APC primary election held on May 16, 2026.

In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, Justice Peter Lifu upheld Arobo’s victory in the primary election, holding that he scored the majority of lawful votes cast across the 23 wards in the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.

The court held that, upon the summation of all votes cast during the primary election, Arobo was entitled to be declared the lawful winner and nominated to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives election in the constituency.

Justice Lifu ordered the APC and INEC to forthwith recognise, accept, relate with and deal only with Arobo as the winner of the primary election conducted on May 16.

The court noted that Arobo polled 7,959 votes in Owo Local Government Area and 2,583 votes in Ose Local Government Area.

It further set aside any other declaration, purported declaration, return or nomination made by the APC in favour of any person other than Arobo, having found that he scored the highest lawful votes in the primary election.

Justice Lifu held that all the five questions raised by the plaintiff for the determination of the court were resolved in his favour.

The court consequently ordered that Arobo’s name be forwarded to INEC as the APC candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency House of Representatives election.

It also restrained the defendants from recognising, dealing with or accepting any other person apart from Arobo as the winner of the disputed primary election.

Justice Lifu further directed INEC to reopen its portal for the purpose of removing any other name earlier uploaded and uploading Arobo’s name as the lawful winner of the APC primary election for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat.
