The Nigerian Bar Association National Officers Election Appeals Committee has activated its secretariat to receive and determine appeals arising from the 2026 NBA National Officers’ Election held on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The Committee announced this in a notice issued pursuant to Section 14(2)(n)(i) of the Nigerian Bar Association Constitution, 2015, as amended in 2025, and Paragraphs 1 to 15, Part X of the Second Schedule to the Constitution.
According to the notice, any candidate who participated in the election and is dissatisfied with the outcome may file an appeal against the return made by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The Committee stated that such appeals must be filed within seven days from the date the results were announced by the ECNBA.
The NBA-NOEAC said the appeal must be by way of a notice or petition, accompanied by all necessary supporting documents, and must comply strictly with the provisions of the NBA Constitution governing post-election proceedings.
“All appeals shall be sent to the NBA-NOEAC via email to stellaowu@gmail.com, and must be sent within seven days of the announcement of results by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association,” the notice stated.
The Committee said the hearing of appeals may be conducted by reviewing the documents presented by the petitioner only.
It added that where necessary, it may call for oral hearing, which may be conducted either virtually or in person.
The NBA-NOEAC also stated that it may rely on any document, information or material relevant to the just determination of an appeal or petition, provided the parties are given an opportunity to address the Committee on the same.
According to the notice, the hearing and determination of all appeals shall be concluded within 14 days of receipt of an appeal filed by a candidate in the prescribed manner.
The Committee further stated that its decision on any appeal lodged by a candidate shall be final and binding on the parties.
The notice was dated July 18, 2026, and signed by Adizua Chu-Chu Okoroafor, SAN, Chairman of the NBA-NOEAC, and Stella Omoikhefe Chidozie, Esq., Secretary of the Committee.
