The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association has apologised to candidates, eligible voters, agents, consultants and observers over the delay in the commencement of voting for the 2026 NBA National Elections.

Voting was scheduled to begin at 12:00 a.m. WAT on Saturday, July 18, 2026, but the Committee said the process could not commence as planned because the e-voting platform came under what it described as a deliberate, coordinated and sustained cyberattack.
In an urgent notice dated July 18, 2026, the ECNBA said the attack was carried out by external actors and was clearly intended to disrupt, sabotage and undermine the integrity of the 2026 NBA national electoral process.
The Committee described the incident as a direct and calculated assault on its technical infrastructure.
According to the notice, the ECNBA’s IT cybersecurity team, working with the Election Voting Service Provider, has activated available security protocols and countermeasures to repel the attack, neutralise the threat and restore the integrity and availability of the voting platform.
The Committee said voting would commence immediately after the system is fully secured and restored.
It stressed that voting had not yet commenced and that no votes were being accepted at the time of the notice.
The ECNBA advised members to await further official communication before attempting to access the portal.
It also warned that the only official voting portal for the election is www.ecnbaovs.org.ng, urging members to disregard any other link, platform or communication purporting to offer an alternative voting channel.
The Committee said such unofficial links or platforms may be part of the same malicious campaign targeting the election.
“All candidates, agents, and observers are present and accounted for at the designated monitoring centre. The electoral process continues under full Committee supervision,” the notice stated.
The ECNBA assured members that further updates would be communicated promptly through its official channels.
It thanked candidates, agents, consultants, observers and eligible voters for their patience and understanding, while reaffirming its commitment to delivering what it described as a free, fair, transparent and credible election despite the criminal interference.
